Plants in Vietnam
Vietnam is has more than 1,500 species of woody plants and the country is divided into two categories: the evergreen forests and the deciduous forests.
The Country's Forests
Most areas have mixed forests housing a great variety of species within a given area, the purest strand of forest are the pines, the three-needled pines, the two-needled pines, and the mangrove forests. In the mountainous regions there are brushwood, bamboo, weeds, and tall grasses, also in the central highlands has dense, rich broad-leaved evergreens and semi evergreens forests. There are crape myrtle, thorny deciduous trees that grows in the desert, and species of flowering plants. The cogon grass can be found in the open forests, and savanna vegetation which occupies large areas formerly covered by forests. The Thap Muoi Plain, also called Plain of Reeds is a swampy region that is a depression in the Mekong delta.
